If your situation changes?

Ill or incapacitated for work

If you are ill for a long period, this can lead to incapacity for work. In addition to physical or psychological symptoms, this may also have consequences for your income and pension.

1. You are ill.

For the first two years of your illness, you will receive income from your employer. You accrue pension over these income payments.

2. You are fully and permanently incapacitated for work.

What has been arranged?

If you have been ill for longer than two years, you may be declared fully and permanently incapacitated for work (80-100% incapacitated). You will then be dismissed for health reasons and receive a full invalidity (IVA) benefit. This benefit is part of the   Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act (WIA).

Pension for later

If you became incapacitated for work before 1 January 2011, your pension accrual will be continued within our pension fund without you needing to pay contributions.

If you became incapacitated for work after 1 January 2011, then two different situations could apply:

  • If your income is lower than the basic annual income of € 70.489,-(2023), you will no longer accrue pension with Pensura from 1 January 2011 but with Pensioenfonds PGB. If you have become incapacitated for work, you must contact Pensioenfonds PGB.
  • If your income is higher than the basic annual income of € 70.489,- (2023), then after 1 January 2011 you will still be a Pensura participant for the part of your income above the basic annual income. You will then accrue pension capital in the investment pension module of the Pensura pension scheme. If you have become incapacitated, the accrual of your pension capital will be continued without you needing to pay contributions.

When you retire, you will receive retirement pension from us. In the event of your death, there will be a partner's pension for your partner and an orphan's pension for your children.

What else has been arranged?

In addition, a WIA-supplement insurance has been arranged via the employer for all employees above the salary threshold. For information on this insurance, please contact your employer.

What do you have to do?

You do not need to give us any information regarding your situation. We receive information from the   UWV (Employee Insurance Agency).

How much will you receive?

The amount that you receive when you retire is shown on the Uniform Pension Overview (UPO). This is your personal pension overview. You receive this overview from us every year. Go to  Mijn Pensioencijfers   (My Pension Figures) and view your pension overview online.

3. You are partially incapacitated or not permanently incapacitated for work.

What has been arranged?

If you have been ill for longer than two years, you may be declared partially incapacitated for work. Different rules then apply from those applicable if you have been declared fully incapacitated. The extent to which pension accrual continues is dependent on the extent of your incapacity and is determined by the UWV (Employee Insurance Agency). Please  contact   our help desk. Our employees can tell you what applies in your case.
